Acocks Green COGOP House of Praise (HOP)
Nestled in the heart of Birmingham, Acocks Green Church of God of Prophecy, affectionately known as House of Praise, is a vibrant, spirit-filled community where faith is lived out through action, worship, and radical love for others.
Led by Senior Pastor Bishop Neville Fletcher and a shard leadership team, the church serves as a beacon of hope, healing, and hospitality for people from all walks of life.
One of the most treasured aspects of House of Praise is its ministry to senior citizens. Every Tuesday, the church hosts a Seniors Luncheon Club that offers more than just a hot meal, it provides companionship, laughter, music, and meaningful conversation. In a society where loneliness is on the rise, especially among older adults, the church is intentionally creating space where seniors feel seen, valued, and connected.
The church also leads a powerful homelessness ministry that goes beyond charity, it’s about transformation. On the first Tuesday of every month, a dedicated team gathers at the church before heading into Birmingham’s city centre with food, clothes, and open hearts. This outreach identifies and responds to the real needs of some of the city’s most vulnerable, offering both practical support and spiritual encouragement. With compassion as its cornerstone, this ministry reflects Jesus’ call to serve “the least of these.”
The impact of this local church hasn’t gone unnoticed. House of Praise was recently featured on BBC Radio 4’s Daily Service, where listeners across the nation got to hear about the church’s mission, music, and ministry in Acocks Green. It was a moment of celebration, not for publicity’s sake, but as a testament to what happens when ordinary people commit to extraordinary love in action.
Beyond these initiatives, the church runs vibrant children’s and youth ministries, Bible studies, prayer meetings, and outreach efforts. Whether you’re looking for a place to grow in your faith, get involved in community service, or simply belong, House of Praise is a church where the gospel is not only preached but lived.
Acocks Green COGOP is more than a church. It’s a family, a refuge, and a launchpad for purpose.
Come and see what God is doing.
Our Beliefs
We accept the Bible as God’s Holy Word, inspired, inerrant, and infallible. We believe the Bible to be God’s written revelation of Himself to mankind and our guide in all matters of faith; therefore, we look to the Bible as our highest authority for doctrine, practice, organisation, and discipline.
▸There is one God eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
▸In the deity of Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, the physical miracles He performed, His atoning death upon the Cross, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal return in power and glory at His Second Coming.
▸That regeneration by the Holy Spirit is essential for the salvation of sinful mankind.
▸That sinners are brought to an awareness of the need for salvation through the convicting work of the Holy Spirit.
▸That in sanctification by the blood of Christ, one is made holy.
▸In the ministry of the Holy Spirit who guides the Church and by whose indwelling and empowerment we can live godly lives and render effective service to God and others.
▸In the oneness and ultimate unity of believers for which our Lord prayed, and that this should be visibly displayed “that the world may know, see, and believe” God’s glory, the coming of His Son, and the great love He has for His people.
▸In the sanctity of the marriage bond and the importance of strong, loving Christian families.
Our Vision
To be a Christ Centred, caring, growing congregation that serves the local community, each other and all we meet: We will express this by embracing all who we meet, being a joyous church, operating the fruits and gifts of the Spirit.
Our Mission
To reach the lost through inspiring a motivational and relevant preaching, teaching and discipling believers through enabling, equipping an empowering service, promoting positive relationships between believers, welcoming ad engaging with the community, praising God through a lifestyle of prayer and stewardship.
